Messandrierre (J Forêt #1)

Sacrificing his job in investigation following an incident in Paris, Jacques Forêt has only a matter of weeks to solve a series of mysterious disappearances as a Gendarme in the rural French village of Messandrierre.

As the number of missing persons rises, steely and determined, Jacques won't give up.

Will he find the perpetrators before his lover, Beth, becomes a victim?

Merle (J Forêt #2)

Jacques delves into the murky world of commercial sabotage – a place where people lie and misrepresent, and where information is traded and used as a threat.

The Vaux organisation is losing contracts and money, and Jacques is asked to undertake an investigation. Searching through the evidence, he finds more than he bargained for, and his own life is threatened.

Who is behind it all…and why?

Montbel (J Forêt #3)

A clear-cut case?

A re-examination of a closed police case brings investigator, Jacques Forêt, up against an old adversary.  After the murder of a key witness, Jacques finds himself, and his team, being pursued.

When a vital piece of evidence throws a different light on Jacques' case, his adversary becomes more aggressive.

Can Jacques find all the answers before it's too late?

Marseille (J Forêt #4)

A spate of abductions and subsequent deaths in nearby départements have Investigator, Jacques Forêt, perplexed.

Returning from extended leave to the news of a local kidnapping, Jacques is on the case immediately. And this time it’s personal.

The investigation into the murders takes him to Marseille. Can Jacques find the kidnappers before it's too late?

It’s a race against time.

Mercœur (J Forêt #5)

On a quiet forest walk, Investigator Jacques Forêt encounters a sinister scene. Convinced there is evidence of malicious intent, he treats his discovery as a crime scene.

But intent for what?  Without a body, how can he be sure that a crime has been - or is about to be - committed?  Without a body, how can Jacques be sure that it’s murder, and not suicide?  Without a body, how can the perpetrator be found?

Mazargues (J Forêt #6)

With his private investigation business in a slump,  Jacques Forêt rashly accepts a commission to find a missing painting.  The mysterious owner of the artwork remains in the background, and Jacques and his partner, Didier Duclos, are left to piece together the life of the artist, the provenance and ownership of the painting.

Jacques' unrelenting search leads to lies, secrecy and a body.

Miss Moonshine Anthologies

Along with 8 other writers, I am a member of Authors on the Edge.  So called because we meet up in Hebden Bridge to chat about writing and the town is on the edge of the two counties where we all live.

The stories that make up these collections are as eclectic as they are uplifting.

Linking all the stories is the intriguing Miss Moonshine, an eccentric shopkeeper whose emporium has stood in the pretty Yorkshire mill town of Haven Bridge (a fictionalised Hebden Bridge) for as long as anyone can remember.

With her ever-changing stock, she has a rare gift for providing exactly what her customers need.  One thing is certain: after visiting Miss Moonshine’s shop, life is never the same again.

Aunt Maggie

Every writer has to start somewhere, and this anthology was my starting point.  My story, Aunt Maggie - a piece of memoir - was written for a competition, which I didn't win.

But I was paid €40 for the rights to the piece and spent a week gazing at the cheque in wonderment. It wasn't until my copy of the book actually arrived that I fully realised that I could do this 'writing thing'.

Unfortunately, the book is out of print, but I still have my copy.  At moments of doubt, I pull it off the bookshelf and tell myself that I really can do this.
